random notes

+Just exhausted during the last week. I suspect some of that has to do with the usual season-twilight at 4:30 is like a body-blow, and the curtains of darkness are going to keep getting darker for about a month.

+We watched Oldboy and The Celebration/Festen on back-to-back days this weekend: both amazing movies, but a bit on the, how do you say it, “downer” side of the scale.

+For the new novel I’m working on, very very slowly, I’ve been experimenting with Google Docs-splicing the novel into 49 discreet files. So far it’s been really interesting to write right into the souped-up web browser, and have these puzzle boxes of narrative to shift around. Uh, not that I have 49 files set up. Try…8? And only a few are done in that first-draft “done” type of way.

Good to see you at WF! I’ll be in touch soon re interview, etc.

Also, re Old Boy-I was horrified to discover that the scene where he eats a live octopus…he really ate a live octopus…
