Nelson Bond

My brain is still pretty fried so I’ve been putting off a coherent con report (is that an oxymoron) but I wanted to say that I was extremely sad to see Nelson Bond had passed away. Here is a review of his collection of stories, The Far Side of Nowhere (Arkham House), that I did for Rain Taxi a few years ago.

In fact, in a way I think he could even be called “the godfather of slipstream” (in that 21st century definition of slipstream, not infernokrusher nor Sterling’s original intent, but what the term slipstream has mutated into) for the way he composed stories and used his materials. Calling someone “the godfather of slipstream” is kind of ridiculous, I know, but if that gets more people to read his books, then all for the better.
