I’ve started reading Gaddis’s The Recoginitions…wasn’t there some group reading blog thingy that was going on with that? It’s here… Did the behemoth get finished, Gwenda?

I really like the book.

I have a looooong way to go.

Also, I’m confused as whether I’m supposed to be doing less cool things with fiction, or pushing a little harder? How can I push in an uncool way? (This is a vast, engulfing, and deliberate misreading on my part, so no offense meant, really.)

Apparently one should be pushing harder, but not kicking eyeballs.

That sounds a little too close to slipstream-noveau (“taking a familiar context and disturbing it with SFnal / fantastical intrusions”) for me.

Less talking, more writing and reading, I say.

Anyway, yes, Gaddis! I loved the first section, but then totally abandoned the book, then went to pick it back up again and had misplaced it, etc. Very large.
