Virgilius Maro of Toulouse and the band Radio Tarifa, both of which show
IMHO ways of escaping from the current impasse...

meanwhile, i just have run across (in Classical Tamil poetry) a new pair
of aesthetic terms: akam and puram. 

needless to say, these do not map onto a known schism.
